Prayer (dua) is one of the most important subjects of Islam. Allah (SWT) has linked prayer (دعاء) to worship, making it synonymous with worship. The act of supplication, whether inside or outside of prayer, is to ask Allah for our needs.

These essential Islamic duas are not just for special occasions like weddings or funerals. Even we can dua for petty things like salt and food.

Asking Allah for our needs is a topic that encompasses a lot about our faith. It is about Allah and our submission to Him. And the first thing we are going to talk about is here.

One night, Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) went to the market to buy shoes. He was receiving revelation from Allah all the time. He was eating his dinner late. He heard a voice saying, O Ibrahim, why are you eating so late? This is not your habit.

He said, O Allah! I tried to sell something from door to door and borrowed money to buy food. I did not find anyone to talk to or trade with until late at night. Allah Almighty answered him.

He said, “Does this friend do this to his friend? Because Khalil means friend and very close to you. Ibrahim, did you not ask me what kind of Khalil I am to you? When you feel hungry you ask me”, Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) said, “O Allah, should I also ask you for food?”
